As a first novel. I have nothing to compare this book to, except to others of its genre. I found that Collins' style had no peers in any of the other vampire books that I have read. Sunglasses After Dark had none of Anne Rice's old world charm and little of Tanith Lee's allure, but in common with both the other authors' books, it had a compulsion all of its own. I really found it hard to put down and I just HAD to read it twice!
The novel contained its fair share of blood and guts, liberally sprinkled with a schizoid vampire, fraudulent telev.
